GAK-sponsored study:
GSK was responsible for the design, initiation, and funding of the study independent GSK-supported study: There were two categories: the first was an independent supported study that was and GSK’s only involvement was financial support in the form of an independent grant; the second, termed a supported collaborative study, was also conducted by an external investigator who assumed sole responsibility for the study, but it differed from the first category in that it involved greater collaboration with GSK, such as in study design interpretation, or provision of study-specific product (± matching placebo) free of charge.
