Humira
The brand name Humira stands for “human monoclonal antibody in rheumatoid arthritis.” As of 2008, adalimumab has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn’s disease, moderate to severe chronic psoriasis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
Challenge
Humira wanted to improve their brand design and create an innovative and efficient way to communicate with their customers. Previously, Humira customers have not been happy with clinical packaging. Based on research, most of the customers felt anxiety when they looked at the packaging, so they would dispose of the box and misuse the drug from lacking the information regarding the dosage . They also felt isolated in their disease, embarrassed and unable to talk about the illness with friends and family. Other issues included taking doses on time, storage issues, safety issues, and traveling. The packaging had not provided complete solutions or guidance. The client did not wish to change the packaging completely due to brand trust and loss impact in the market. They wanted to change the packaging design, but have the product and drug inside to remain recognizable.
Solution
Saatchi & Saatchi hired me as a UX/UI Designer to solve this issue in a creative yet simple way. I worked closely with the marketing and strategy teams to come up with multiple design concepts. We were aiming for a design that was simple, clean, and easy to read. Once we had our product, we shared it with the marketing team. I designed and executed their choices and finally, we presented to the client.
Prototype
The prototype explained the new design journey step-by-step, including the new packaging design and the complete assistance in text reminders.
